Crum Paces Cats With 19 Points; Frosh Down Tempe

By BILL LUCAS

Fred Enke's University of Arizona cagers tuned up for their eastern barnstorming trip here last night with a 60-41 triumph over the San Diego State Aztecs. The Cats will leave early Friday morning on a trip that will include five games starting Saturday with Washington university at St. Louis. Workouts are slated here today and tomorrow.

Last night's preliminary game saw the UA frosh turn back the Tempe yearlings, 41-38. In a contest which saw the lead change hands a number of times.

Center Junior Crum was the big gun for the Arizona varsity as he accounted for 19 hits. Fifteen of Crum's points were accumulated in the first half which ended with the Cats in front, 32-24. Arizona held a 16-13 lead after 10 minutes of play and was in the van 19-17 with seven minutes of the half remaining.

The Cats pulled steadily away in the closing minutes, of the first canto and were never too seriously threatened in the second half, 13 players breaking into the Cat lineup.

Nuttall In Form
Pacing the San Diego attack was Forward Don Nuttall with 15 points, 13 of which were acquired in tire first half. Close Arizona guarding held him in tow in the final 20-mlnute session.

Forward Leon Blevens accounted for 12 Wildcat points on six field goals and gave a clever exhibition of ball handling. Bob Honea, starting his first game at forward, caged nine points and handled himself in creditable fashion.

The preliminary game saw the Wildkittens pushed all of the way. They held a 20-17 lead at the half and after the lead had changed hands early in the second half, managed to cling to a slender edge for the remainder of the way.

Ed Senseman, Tempe, topped the scorers with 16 points followed by Roger Johnson of the Wildkittens with 10.
