Wildcat Cagers Lose To Louisville, 69 To 50

CARDINALS SPURT AHEAD WITH 11 MINUTES TO GO

LOUISVILLE, Ky., Dec. 24, (AP) — Arizona's Wildcats outplayed Louisville's Cardinals for most of the basketball game here last night, but then a deluge of U. L. baskets hit to give the home club a 69-50 victory. Coach Fred Enke's Arizona team excelled for three-fourths of the tilt, except in rebounding where Louisville's height paid off.

Partisan fans in the crowd of 2,000 spectators wondered when Louisville would "get hot," if at all. With 11 minutes to play, the Cardinals of Coach Peck Hickman showed them. The score then stood 43 to 42 in favor of Arizona but three baskets in rapid succession sent Louisville ahead, 48 to 43.

The Cards then went on to make it 54-44 while Arizona scored but one field goal.

Scores 18 Points
Guard Kenny Reeves led Louisville with 18 points. His close guarding held Arizona's Forward Leon Blevins to nine. Junior Crum was Arizona's top point maker with 16. Big Jack Coleman tallied 12 for Louisville and Bob Honea 11 for the Wildcats.

The game was close throughout the first half. With a minute and 49 seconds to play, Arizona led 23 to 21. The game livened up and baskets began popping in and with two seconds left Reeves sank a long one to send the Cardinals ahead at half time, 31-29.

It was the seventh straight win for Louisville and its sixth in nine days. For Coach Enke's team, it was the fourth consecutive loss on its eastern road trip. Arizona plays its final road trip game Tuesday night, meeting North Carolina at Lafayette, La.
