TUCSON, Ariz. - Nic Wise scored 24 points as Arizona snapped its three-game losing streak and defeated Louisiana Tech 83-67 Wednesday night at McKale Center.
Jamelle Horne added a career-high 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and eight rebounds for Arizona (4-4) who shot 51 percent from the field for the game. Additionally UA saw all five starters finish in double figures in scoring.
The Wildcats pulled away early in the second half as they extend their halftime lead to seven behind a dunk from Derrick Williams. The Wildcat run would eventually grow to 16-4 as UA looked to be comfortably ahead. The Bulldogs would not quit however, forcing a myriad of Arizona turnovers to trim the lead to 11.
Williams, after going scoreless in the first half on three attempts, notched 11 points and pulled down four rebounds to ignite Arizona in the second half.
Kyle Fogg, starting his first game of the year and filling in for injured shooting guard Brendon Lavender, tallied 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting in 31 minutes.
The Cats trailed early in the first half, but Fogg hit two three-pointers followed by a steal and lay-in from Wise to cap a 8-0 run and put UA up by two. The Bulldogs came out strong to start the game, leading 20-13 before the Wildcat run.
Arizona will next head to San Diego to face San Diego State on Sat., Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m. PT.
